Flood Control 2015 was present at the National Innovation Event on 4 October last.
Focus in our presentation was on the Flood Control Dashboard. Some of the visitors were already familiar with the Dashboard, for others it was an introduction. During the interactive presentation at the fair, visitors could design their own ultimate dashboard. In this way, they advised the Flood Control presenters on the most useful design.
Some of the remarks of visitors on the Flood Control Dashboard were: “Good idea, there is really a need for such an instrument !”. “Is this already up and running ? Are there any examples?“ We then demonstrated the Jakarta Flood Dashboard to them. “Is this Dasboard applicable for tablet / smart phone?”.
Students from the University of Delft offered free brainstorm sessions to all participants during the Innovation event and of course we thankfully made use of their offer. The students’ ultimate wish for the Flood Control Dashboard was a special mobile phone application, giving tailor-made information based on individual circumstances and giving very clear instructions on what to do in case of a flood.

Indeed something to strive for. We are currently working on a mobile application, which can offer information tailored to the interests of water professionals and decision makers, such as the local mayor and even the citizens involved.
